Soil: Book of H(ours) orients body, time, and earth through a sundial that marks sunlight in motion. A dance and spoken word performance traces the rhythms of soil, memory, and seasonal breath. Rooted in the medieval Book of Hours, the accompanying artist book reimagines devotion as ecological attunement. Together, these elements offer a durational meditation on groundedness, cycles, and care.

Patrick S. McFarlane
Patrick McFarlane lives with his husband in Detroit, MI, though soon to be Boston (summer 2025), and Maine. He’s a PhD candidate in social work focused on primary care research at the intersection of violence and health using arts and ethnographic methods. He’s committed to decolonizing healthcare. Practices as a NP in family medicine and psychiatry. An artist, poet, and researcher he’s committed to centering non colonizer knowledges and perspectives to help deconstruct whiteness to make a less violent future. Queer.
